Good discussion today in class 9 about power and politics in Elizabethan England using @mentimeter .

We first looked at government positions in general. Was a Member of Parliament more powerful than a Privy Councillor or a Lord Lieutenant? And how powerful was the Queen actually?

The second slide was about a more specific situation. Did it matter if you were on good terms with the Queen? Or if you are a privy councillor and spymaster knowing the latest intel?

There is no perfect answer to this question. It's all about arguing what makes people powerful, why this person would be more powerful than that one and ultimately learning how the government worked during the reign of Elizabeth I.
