First full week of teaching is almost done!

I've taught all classes now and started the year off for each one of them with the same two activities which are all about building a good relationship and getting to know each other better.

To get to know to me, I like to play the prejudice game. Students have to guess my age, hobbies, favorite movies etc, write it on a sticky note and stick it on the board. I then discuss the right answers and tell more about myself. I've learned that students think teaching is a hobby (it does feel that way), they think I'm young and know my passion for cycling.

To get to know each other better, I like to do the 'find someone who..' game. Students walk around the room and try to complete the hand out by finding classmates who tick one of the boxes. In the discussion afterwards I can learn a lot about their connection with history, their interests, and their level.
